Week 13 - The Climax - Iron Man

Being the huge Fanboy I am this was one of the most awesome climax to a movie ever. Seeing the character just come to life in a way that no character ever could because no other character was ever truly based on an actor so closely. Not only was the movie a  great fun ride having this at the end was truly the icing on the cake. So here is my interpretation of the moment you see his face.

Week 12 - Show and Tell - Adventures in Character Design

This summer I have been exploding with ideas. From creepy little monsters to Superhero action. None of these ideas have been fleshed out much yet but the thing I see as my problem is I need good character design. That is not really a problem because that is something I want to work on anyway because it's fun for me. At the start of summer I found a group on Deviant Art called 'Design A Character'. They do challenges revolving on designing a character. So this week I decided to get in some practice designing without killing my ideas (as I tried doing some designs and being unhappy with almost every line I put down). So I did the prop design challenge. The challenge was to design a prop then design a character that would use that prop, the challenge specified a chair.

I designed my chair.

From this design I then created a character who would use this chair.

The character design went a bit wonky when I drew it but I am happy with the amount of character I got into the design. Hope you like it.

Week 9 - The Relentless Hero - Johnny Storm

Hey Guys,

I could only manage a sketch this week (I just did it in about 30 minutes) because of work and tiredness but I didn't want to leave you with nothing.

For this week I had trouble deciding on my idea. I had a couple but none really said relentless hero till I got my final idea to do my own drawing of the Death of Johnny Storm. It really shouts relentless hero to me charging to your death to protect the world and most importantly your family.

I really want to finish this one so definitely look for an update over at my blog next week.

Week 8- Catman Redesign- WWII

For my challenge this week I did a WWII version of Catman. I wanted to go for a Captain America style WWII Superhero. I'm really happy with this one the pose and the costume came out as well as I'd hoped they rerally convey what I was aiming for.

I really hate Namor A.K.A. The Submariner. He is all high and mighty and thinks himself better than anyone else I feel my piece this week really helps show that.

Week 6 - Nintendo - Shinobu Jacobs

Hey Dawgs,

This week as the least knowledgeable Nintendo fan on this blog my choice will most definitely be the least classic. Never been a true Nintendo fan more of a Sony guy really but sometimes a game captures my interest and No More Heroes for the Wii really did that for me, unfortunately never been able to play it though :(. The art style and character design seemed so fresh and energised compared to all the hyper detailed modern games that I was interested in any news about it when it was being covered. Soooooooo... after that ramble. I have chosen to do a drawing of one of the coolest looking characters from the game Shinobu Jacobs, how much cooler than a black school girl with a white afro and a samurai sword can you get.

Here's my entry. I'm not really happy with it but It isn't terrible. I'm really having inking difficulties recently. My pencils are fine but when I try and ink it just looks worse. I guess it's just practice and perseverance.

Week 2 - Film Poster Redesign- Pan's Labyrinth

Hey, here it is the completed redesign for Guillermo Del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth poster. I did it in the same way as last week with grey markers and a photoshop colour overlay. Hope everyone likes it.

The Swamp- Week 1- So it Begins

Here it is guys. The full coloured version of my illustration for So it begins...

I used grey markers to do the tones and did a quick colour layer on photoshop just to try the new technique after a few technical difficulties.

I tried to give it an old school pulp novel feel so I tried to give it a painty finish and used off colours. The text was just the finishing touch :)
